Frequently asked questions

Is Squish Files really free?

Yes, completely free. All tools are supported by advertising. There are no file size limits, no daily limits, and no account required.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are never sent to any server — not even ours.

How do I compress a PDF to reduce the file size?

Click the PDF Compress tab, drop your PDF into the drop zone, choose a compression level — Screen for smallest size, eBook for a good balance, Print or High for better quality — then click Compress PDF and download your file.

What image formats can I convert between?

You can convert between JPG (JPEG), PNG, and WebP. You can batch convert multiple images at once and download them as a ZIP.

How do I merge multiple PDFs into one file?

Click the Merge PDFs tab, drop in your PDF files, use the ↑↓ arrows to set the order, then click Merge PDFs. The combined file downloads immediately.

Will compressing a PDF affect text quality?

Squish Files compresses PDFs by re-rendering each page as an image. This means text won't be selectable in the output. The Screen and eBook levels reduce visual quality more aggressively in exchange for smaller file sizes, while Print and High settings look much closer to the original.

Can I convert images to PDF?

Yes — use the Images → PDF tab. Drop in any number of JPG, PNG, or WebP images, reorder them with the arrows, and click Create PDF to bundle them into a single PDF file.

How do I extract pages from a PDF as images?

Use the PDF → Images tab. Drop your PDF in, choose your output format (JPEG or PNG) and resolution (72–300 dpi), then click Extract Images. Each page becomes a separate image file, all downloaded together as a ZIP.
